The lacklustre start to a calendar year 2017 continued for a
third day in a row where Nifty and Sensex closed on a flattish note. Nifty seems
to have taken a prolonged breather at 8190-8200 after rallying from its major
support at 7900 levels. Sensex too
hovered around 26600-26700 levels during the day. Markets were driven majorly
by the Auto sales data that came in mixed and India’s services activity that
remained unchanged at 47.6 in December from previous year and contracted from
November’s 49.1 on the back of cash crunch in the economy. The Midcap index
witnessed a turnaround and underperformed while Small cap maintained
outperformance with 0.4% gains . Overall Advance to decline ratio for NSE came
in at 3:2 . On the sectoral front Realty and IT outperformed with 2.2% and 1.3%
gains. Banks and Financial
services dragged the markets down with nearly 0.8% losses on an average.
Nifty open gap up on Wednesday
and shown consolidated trend over
the full trading hour’s. Nifty closed above
the 8200 today. 8000 -7900 is the
support of nifty if its break that level down side pressure will be seen. Above
8150 new level of nifty would be 8230-8350.

Bank nifty open gap up today and showing consolidation movement,
over the full trading hour’s. Bank nifty closed below 18000. Above 18000 next
target for bank nifty on chart up to 18300-18500. support for bank nifty would
be in between the level of 17400-17600. It can be the reversal point for bank
nifty. KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK (-0.93%) and HDFC BANK (-0.18%) is the top
losers of the day.
Bank nifty Open gap up at 18150.00,
to its previous closing 18060.95 on Wednesday and touched high of 18150.00. Today’s
bank nifty made a low of 17923.50. 17400-17600 is the next support of the bank
nifty. As we expect that bank nifty
should take support at that level. and next level of bank nifty would be
18000-18300.

The Indian rupee opened
marginally higher at 68.29 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous close
68.33. The rupee is likely to take cues from the equity market movement and is
expected to trade in the range of 68.20-68.55/dollar today. US dollar rose to
its highest in 14 years against the euro and a basket of major currencies
yesterday after data showed solid growth in US manufacturing. The dollar index
has pulled back marginally today on profit booking.
