SENSEX RECLAIMS 30000 IN OPENING, NIFTY INCHES TOWARDS 9350 | TODAY STOCK MARKET NEWS UPDATE 03 MAY 2017.

Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets opened higher on Wednesday despite mixed Asian cues. Investors awaited the outcome of two-day Federal Reserve Policy meeting due tonight.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 75.63 points at 29,996.81 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 23 points at 9,336.80. About 682 shares advanced against 194 declining shares on the BSE.

Bajaj Auto, NTPC, L&T, Hero Motocorp, ONGC, Power Grid, Bharti Infratel, BPCL and IOC were early gainers while ITC, Maruti, Sun Pharma, TCS, HDFC, Eicher Motors and Indiabulls Housing were under pressure.

The rupee opened 9 paise higher against the dollar at 64.12, as exporters and custodian banks sold the greenback in early trade.

Analysts attributed this intraday correction to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) intervening to stem the rise of the rupee.

“The bias on the rupee is still positive,” said a dealer with a foreign bank.

“It is quite likely that we could see another sustained rally from here on.”

Asian markets were mixed, as gains on Wall Street overnight were offset by disappointment with Apple earnings, with traders looking ahead to the US Federal Reserve meeting results.

In Australia, the ASX 200 was down 0.95 percent amid declines in banking and some resources shares. The Shanghai Composite shed 0.33 percent while South Korea's Kospi was up 0.65 percent.

SENSEX BREAKS 30000 INOPENING, NIFTY FALLS FURTHER ON WEAK ASIAN CUES | TODAY STOCK NEWS UPDATE 28 APRIL 2017.

Equity benchmarks extended losses in early trade Friday, tracking weakness in Asian peers on concerns over US-South Korea free trade pact.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 56.33 points at 29,973.41 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 30.70 points to 9,311.45. About 613 shares advanced against 408 declining shares on the BSE.

ITC, HDFC, HDFC Bank, TCS and HUL were top five contributors to Sensex' loss, down 0.7-1.5 percent whereas auto stocks were gainers ahead of April sales data due next week.

The rupee opened stronger against the dollar, appreciating to 64.11, 4 paise higher than its previous close.

Market participants said that the risk-on sentiment that gripped the market after the conclusion of the first round of the French presidential elections seems to have abated, albeit temporarily.

"The positive risk tone after the first round of French elections, appears to be taking a breather, after the mostly anticipated US tax cut plans and somewhat dovish ECB," said Ashutosh Raina of HDFC Bank.

Asian markets traded mostly weaker as comments from President Donald Trump on an existing free trade pact with Seoul to payment for a sophisticated anti-missile system caught investors by surprise.

TOP 20 STOCKS WHICH FUND MANAGERS DUMPED IN MARCH QUARTERS | STOCK NEWS REPORT 22 APRIL 2017.

Mutual funds, which poured in over Rs 2,000 crore in Indian equity markets in March, pared their positions or made an exit in stocks such as Coal India, Divi’s Laboratories, Tech Mahindra, TCS and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories which slipped up to 20 percent so far in the year.

After a lacklustre 2016, 2017 has been nothing short of a blockbuster year for investors with benchmark indices hitting fresh record highs in April. The S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty rose 11 percent and 12 percent respectively.

The large part of the rally was driven by abundance liquidity from both global as well as domestic investors who poured in close to Rs 30K crore in January-March period.

Stocks, which mutual funds dropped in March based on market value, include names like Axis Bank, Divi’s Laboratories, Tech Mahindra, Coal India, Bharti Airtel, TCS, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, JSW Steel, Ashok Leyland, BHEL, Orient Cement, Info Edge, Equitas Holdings, Sun Pharma etc. among others, said an IDBI Capital report.

This could be a sign of cautions for investors. Either mutual funds would have booked profits in these stocks or the fundamentals does not support the current valuation. In either case, it is a sign of caution for investors. Most of the stocks mentioned in the list have given negative return so far in the year.

The Indian rupee was little changed against the dollar, as greenback purchases by state-run lenders likely on behalf of the central bank and importers offset gains arising from strong local shares. India is implementing the General Anti-Avoidance Rule, or GAAR, from the next financial year that starts Apr. 1. Investors have beenwary of the proposed legislation - first tabled in 2012-13 federal budget - that gives authorities the right to examine and tax transactions if they believe those deals were structured solely to evade tax payments. USDINR is expected to trade with negative bias in today’s session. Resistance is at 65.10 and support is at 64.80 mark.
